Trustee Visit to Cambodia: Day 2

DAY 2: Yesterday’s breakfast high spot was short-lived. The best part of today’s effort was the price: less than £2. Full 1* view available.

The business of the day began in Ta Hen with a visit to the Center for the Disabled where in 2016 Support Cambodia facilitated a tuk tuk, courtesy of Norwich Catenians. Then on to the Weaving Room to check in with the ladies who handmake the beautiful kromas ( scarves) we sell on our stalls. We were delighted to hand over 20% of the sales of the scarves plus a small bonus for the ladies, spend a good hour negotiating a bespoke design for future orders and thanking manager Savin for her help.

Finally , a very interesting visit with Project Manager Inez to KBO’s new agriculture center and rice mill – a recent and exciting initiative.

In the afternoon, a tour of Pet Yiey Chee Center for the Sick with Dr. Nhor Chamrom, Cambodian doctor and very good friend, who runs the clinic. Increasing numbers of people are visiting the Center where free medical help for a range of conditions is available, stretching both staff and facilities to the limit. We handed over medical supplies, some of which was provided by Supporters Andrew and Val Clark. Until recently Support Cambodia have also supported a baby milk program here for babies of HIV mums. We hope to be able to support the amazing work of this Center again very soon and left a ‘Karuna’ Bear to keep an eye on developments. Grateful thanks to Dr Chamrom and her staff for their time and for showing us round.
