HEALTH PROGRAMME AT ROHAL PRIMARY

Rohal is a large village  [over 400 families] situated about half way between Svay Sisophon and Siem Reap. Their Primary School caters for 270 children in Grades 1-6 under Head Teacher Mr Bun Sarak and his staff.

Support Cambodia first visited Rohal in 2017 to help set up a Microcredit project for the villagers – it’s still running successfully.  Two years later,  we were asked to provide a Handwash Facility for the school to form the basis for their new Health Education initiative. This was installed in late 2019 and has been a huge hit with both staff and students. There’s nothing better than playing with cold water on a hot day!!! – and it encourages good hygiene. A tooth cleaning initiative for all classes was also introduced in 2020 though we haven’t yet been able to see this in operation. Click on the arrow to play the video

As part of the drive to improve the general health of the children, the school decided to concentrate this year on the importance of encouraging regular exercise. $800 [about £ 600] was provided by Support Cambodia for permanent play equipment in the school grounds and what a great result!!! We are so pleased to have been able to do this  – and look forward to when we are next able to visit Rohal and see for ourselves. Thanks especially to Dr Nhor Chamrom for her help in getting the project completed.  Click on the arrow to play the video
