Trustees Cambodia Visit 2019

Just a few days to go now till three of the charity’s Trustees fly to Cambodia (at their own expense) to inspect recently completed and previous projects to ensure that donated money is spent accountably. It’s a vital part of Trustee responsibility to ensure that 100% of the  donations made by the public in good faith are spent in accordance with their wishes.
Trustees Katie and Bob Maidment and Jan Northway together with Supporter Fran Ludden and ‘Metta Karuna’, the Support Cambodia Bear, will visit around 20 centres in 17 days, delivering toiletries and stationery to the neediest families and researching possible projects for 2019. In the luggage will be two Community and 28 Family Water Filters, jointly funded by the Safe Water Trust [www.grifaid.org.uk] , a private donor from Norwich and the proceeds of the charity’s ‘Coins for Cambodia’ collecting jar scheme.
Also included in the 160kilos of baggage [!] are 30,000 [yes, you did read that correctly!] children’s vitamin tablets donated free by Midland company, Just Vitamins [ www.justvitamins.co.uk ] toothbrushes courtesy of Discount Discs [UK] Ltd and a bag of beautiful T-shirt dresses made by St. Francis of Assisi Primary School, Norwich.

Added to all this in Phnom Penh’s Orusey Market will be soap, toothpaste, shampoo, sanitary towels, toilet cleaner, laundry soap, notebooks, pens, pencils, crayons etc…….look out for ‘loading the van’ pictures on our Facebook Page! If you contributed during the year to our Hygiene or Education Funds, this is how your donations are used. From all who will receive these basic necessities over the next 3 weeks: thank you very much for helping Support Cambodia help them.
