Trustee Visit to Cambodia: Day 4

Sunday morning, Battambang is always special….and so it was today.

300 people, many of them Buddhist and mostly under 30, coming together to celebrate the Catholic Mass in unique Cambodian style. Traditional music based on Buddhist chant, flowers and incense in the procession, sometimes dancing (but not today) and everything done with grace, simplicity and precision….all combine to make you feel you really are in the Far East….and a “very long way from London Town”!

The overriding sense of spirituality, tranquility and peace never fails to inspire, whatever your personal belief may be. An enduring and truly special experience… what a privilege to be here.

Sunday Mass here in Battambang is a great place to meet old friends….in this case Dam Pranya and Khunny, both well known to visitors from East Anglia. So lovely to see you both.

An enjoyable lunch with Parish Priest Father Carlos Alfaro Delgado preceded the two hour taxi ride to Pailin….more of which tomorrow.
