Trustee Visit 2026 – Day Three

We begin the day with a visit to the Weaving Room at Ta Hen….the women so keen to see us that five of the six offered to come in specially (they don’t work weekends). Although we still have plenty of their unique, hand woven traditional scarves for sale (current selling price just £5.00), we bought some more blue ones, a popular colour in the UK. “We are very grateful you continue to support our work so we can provide for our families”, said supervisor Ms Samnang. We will tell more of Samnang’s story in the weeks to come.

Lunch at the Yeiy Ath Garden Cafe in the Prefecture church compound was followed by an hour-long conversation with Bishop Kike, the Apostolic Prefect of Battambang. As always, an insightful and thought provoking conversation, filled with wise advice and useful information to which we wouldn’t normally have access. An exchange of gifts too: for us, a ‘giraffe’ tote bag ( the giraffe is one of the symbols of the Prefecture) and for the Bishop a ‘Karuna’ bear and our last remaining ‘Support Cambodia’ kroma/scarf with the special red lotus embroidery, normally reserved only for Trustees. Thank you, Father Kike, for your partnership and co-operation over a long, long period of time, without which a significant number of Support Cambodia-funded projects would not have been achieved.

And thanks also, to our great friend Dr Nhor Chamrom for her consistent support in making these happen. Okoon charen from all of us at Support Cambodia…
