Trustee Visit 2026 – Day Ten

For the first time in ten days there is nothing “official” scheduled so I get a lie-in, Rosemary experiences the sunrise at Angkor Wat (4.30 start!), Karuna samples a coconut milk shake and we are finally able to take advantage of the hotel pool.

In the evening we join locals, expats, visitors from East Anglia and beyond for (anticipated) Sunday Mass in English, offered for Marie-Madeline Kenning who passed away last week. Her immense contribution to the lives of so many young Cambodians is publicly acknowledged and, as is the custom here, incense is offered for the repose of her soul. Two other people, also no longer with us, are also mentioned. Michael Evans, Bishop of East Anglia 2003-2011 (without whom most of us would not be in Cambodia at all) and Bob Maidment, co-founder of Support Cambodia – really special for him to be included. May they all rest in peace.

A further foray into the Sala Hotel’s cocktail menu combines with a “lost in translation” moment resulting in not just BOGOF but “BuyOneGetThreeFree”….and it’s only 5pm!! .This is definitely getting out of hand…..in future I’ll stick to G&T. Cheers everyone!
