This was always going to be a demanding day: walk to breakfast at the local coffee shop before an 8am visit to the Don Bosco Technical College where we support two students studying electrical engineering. Very interesting and useful visit.

On to the opening ceremony of a new school for special needs children in Battambang city and the great honour of a) being invited to help cut the tape and b) conversation and pictures with the Venerable Socheatha, a Buddhist monk well known in the Battambang area for his community involvement and cooperative friendship with Bishop Kike over many years. And it’s only 11.30am!!!

Then three meetings in quick succession, Health Center visit, an hour to shower and change before meeting Hoan, Channy and Sammadi, three of our Vocational Training students. The regular Monday night Mass, extended to 90+ minutes by a procession, a special ceremony with incense and student interviews was followed by supper and group session with the students of Tep Im Student Hostel. By this point all your correspondent is fit for is a ‘wee (
) dram’ and a lot of sleep. And we have to do it all again tomorrow in Pailin…..
