This exciting initiative to help poor rural families, especially the small farmers, is being led by Jesuit brother Noel Oliver who specialises in agricultural development. His plans include:
* promoting the SRI method of rice growing
*micro finance for the small farmers
*enabling the women to keep control of their profits
*skills training for disadvantaged youth.
In a country where educational standards are uneven with virtually no secondary schools in the countryside, rural youth often miss out and their prospects are often very poor. This scheme will try to redress the balance and help these young men and women help themselves to a better life.
Over the last 2 months Support Cambodia has been raising funds to help this scheme and it is now complete. Thanks to everyone for their generosity.
