OCHRA KANDAL BOREWELL PROJECT

UPDATE 29th AUGUST: Project Completed and paid for! For details of the hugely successful 21st August event, please go to our NEWS page.
The Community Housing Project Pailin [see PROJECTS for a report] was completed in early July. But although the first two families were able to move in almost straight away….there was one essential thing missing…CLEAN WATER. As you can see from the picture, a dirty pool, shared with the animals, is completely unacceptable. So, the next task was to raise £1200 to provide a borewell. This will not only benefit the occupants of the house but also other local people and the Ochra Kandal Farm you see in the picture, making this very much a ‘community’ project.

You may wonder why the borewell appears to already be there and the blue pipe connecting it to the toilet building. That is because the borewell needed to be complete before the raining season begins later this month [in fact – it’s already raining now]. So Support Cambodia have advanced the money to allow the work to take place immediately –  and now have to raise the £1200 to repay our Water Fund!

That’s why the Ochra Kandal Borewell Project is the focus of the Wickmere Open Garden & Village Yard Sale on Saturday 21st August.
