After a long-Covid-affected delay of several months, the three new water borewells serving the central area of Nikum, near Battambang, are finished. These were paid for by the surplus from last summer’s hugely successful Wickmere Garden & Village Event.
As you can see from the picture, it’s a remote area, apparently with no people but in fact hundreds of families live here with more moving in all the time. Water is very scarce, especially in the dry season and up to now, villagers have had to buy [expensive] water but these wells will, between them, serve over 100 families.
The wells were blessed by parish priest Father Rajat Hassapurti on Sunday April 10th and he writes, “All of the villagers express their heartfelt gratitude to Support Cambodia….big thanks to all the donors”.
