“When you empower a woman, you empower the whole world”[Ruth Mumbi 2018] – and Support Cambodia’s latest project has the potential to do just that, certainly in the rural villages of Pailin Province.
After weeks of intensive preparation and a Blessing and Opening Ceremony on Sunday 15th May, the Sacred Heart Sewing Centre in Pailin opened its doors on Monday 16th May.
The Centre is the brainchild of Sister Vangie Dunton and local parish priest Father Carlos Alfaro and will provide the opportunity for women and girls in the area to learn a sustainable skill that will earn them money – the women themselves requested this initiative. Support Cambodia have funded the setting up of the Centre and are committed to supporting it financially for the first three years by which time it is hoped to be self-supporting.
