EMERGENCY FLOOD APPEAL

Cambodia is now suffering its worst flooding for many years with 19 of its 25 provinces affected. At least 16 people have died, many of the poorest families have lost their homes and their livelihoods and are in urgent need of food and basic necessities. It has been raining now for 3 weeks ……. and shows little sign of stopping.
In Pailin Province, as in many other areas, farmers  have lost all their crops: this is particularly hard on those farmers who have benefited from microfinance schemes such as those funded by Support Cambodia.  [remember ‘Nat’, the asparagus farmer?] Earlier this week Sister Vangie Dunton [Pailin] requested $1000 for emergency rice and although this has been sent it will not be nearly enough and the situation will be repeated all over the country.
WHAT IS SUPPORT CAMBODIA DOING?
Our Trustee Board has decided to open our ANNUAL APPEAL [scheduled for November] immediately to provide emergency rice, toiletries, formula milk and finance for farmers to replant when the time is right.
Although support for the charity this year has been amazing….THIS IS AN EMERGENCY....so please help if you can.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?
DONATE in cash, by cheque, by bank transfer or via the VirginMoneyGiving link on our DONATE page. Please mark your donation “Emergency Appeal”.  If you can Gift Aid, so much the better [for offline donations, a form is available: please ask]
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR ANYTHING YOU ARE ABLE TO GIVE or any fundraising you are able to do in your area.

We will be running several fundraising events during November to support the Appeal.
Details to follow on the DIARY page.
