COVID-19 has hit Cambodia very hard in recent weeks with work places closed and movement tightly controlled.
As a result, the many disadvantaged Cambodian families have found themselves without jobs, unable to pay the rent and so… nowhere to live.
This basic, two room renting house with shared kitchen & toilet will enable two families to be accommodated.
In return they will farm the surrounding land to provide for themselves and their neighbours – a ‘helping hand to get back on their feet. Going forward, the house will give other needy families the same opportunity.
Part of the 5 hectare plot has already been prepared and, following a very successful Table Top Sale in Aylsham on June 5th, the £650 needed for the house has been raised and building has started.
The pictures show the land, the preparations, the families involved, the finished house and Father Carlos Alfaro who is overseeing the project.
UPDATE [July 3rd ]: The house is now finished! Huge thanks to everyone who contributed to raising the money in such a short time. Table Top Sale in Aylsham on June 5th…..A magnificent £431 was raised on the day with the remainder arriving from a variety of sources during the following week – a truly extraordinary result.
