ANNUAL APPEAL 2019

Support Cambodia Annual Appeal 2019 started on November 1st and will run until the end of the month. All proceeds [no costs taken out for administration] will go Rice Soup, Baby Milk and Women’s Health  Programmes in Svay Sisophon in Banteay Meanchey Province in North West Cambodia.
These Programmes provide a regular rice meal for some of the poorest children in the Svay area, limited antenatal care for the mothers of new-born twins and formula milk for their babies.
Banteay Meanchey is the poorest province in Cambodia and the daily wage for many is not enough for a family to live on, so these programmes are a lifeline, especially for the very youngest

Svay Sisophon is an unremarkable town of 100, 000 people, set a vast hinterland of rice fields about 25 miles from the Thai border. There’s little industry and the main occupations are rice farming and fishing. Lack of opportunity means that many are forced to cross the border to find work in Thailand, often leaving children behind in the care of grandparents or neighbours.
The Appeal Target is £1200 and the money will be taken out to Cambodia by the Trustees during their visit in February.

UPDATE: The final total for the Annual Appeal was a wonderful £2048.06, £1200 of which will go to Svay Sisophon for Rice Soup & Baby Milk and a further £200 for Rice Soup at the Pongro Day Care Centre.
At the AGM it was agreed that the surplus [£648] should be split between two new Funds, Nutrition [which will include funding for  Rice Soup in many centres] and Women’s Health [to include Baby Milk, pre/antenatal care and women’s health education in rural villages].
Thank you very much to everyone who contributed so generously.
THE NEXT APPEAL WILL TAKE PLACE IN NOVEMBER 2020
