Siem Reap to Battambang: After a very welcome 24 hours a) to sleep b) to get used to the heat (31c) and the unique sights, sounds and smells of Cambodia and c) sort the comms so we can bring you our experiences as they happen (without paying exorbitant UK roaming charges), we are on our way to Rohal Primary School. Hand washes, playground and sports equipment, library books and an ongoing dental health program have all been funded here by Support Cambodia over the last seven years.

Over that time we have become accustomed to the warmest of welcomes at this very well run government school but this one topped the lot. All 287 children ( minus the kindergarten) were present with Head Teacher Mr Bun Sarak along with his staff all in smart uniforms ….plus local government official complete with lanyard and notebook (not entirely sure who was checking up on who!) and guess who else was in the line-up? Karuna’s brother in pristine condition and clearly well-loved by all.

Anyhow, it was a great honour for us and very much appreciated.
Also pleased to report that all the Support Cambodia projects are in good order with the the playground refurbishment yet to be completed. Rosemary presented Mr Sarak with $250 to finish the job and provide more library books for the kindergarten children. It’s been a real pleasure to be associated with Rohal Primary: thank you for your wonderful welcome, your consistent high standards and above all, your obvious care for so many happy children.
