Three very successful events in February & March [the Coffee Morning, the Soups & Slides Lunch and a talk in Gorleston] raised £1000 to upgrade the dormitory facilities at Tampung Student Centre, home to 11 students, some of them orphans. Presently, the floors of these rooms are rough concrete and need tiling, there are holes in the walls and five boys share this one bed. There’s nowhere to hang clothes or keep personal possessions and it’s impossible to keep clean. The money will hugely improve the quality of life for these young people and will be enough to also purchase additional beds, blankets, mosquito nets and storage.
