Support Cambodia’s 8th Borewell is complete!! It’s the charity’s contribution to an exciting initiative by Karuna Battambang Organisation [KBO] in Pursat Province. Click on our Facebook Page to see a clip of it in action………….and see below for an update……
KBO are supporting local farmers by setting up a Marketing Outlet on the highway at CROAP [Centre for Research into Optimum Agricultural Practice] . A significant number of farmers here are already seeing the huge benefits of the ‘SRI’ method of rice growing – Support Cambodia contributed to the setting up of a Rice Bank in 2017 as part of this development – and this project will build on the experience and extend it by including a Demonstration Farm, Cafe, Meeting Room, Office and Shop. The well will provide water for the farm, the buildings and all who use the facility – a water tower and tank being installed so pressure can be maintained.
Although this well has a rather different focus to the previous [village or school-based] seven, the whole local community stand to benefit from this wide-ranging initiative and Support Cambodia are delighted to be playing a small part in it.
PROJECT UPDATE: SEPTEMBER 2018
With the borewell now finished and in use, the construction of the water tower and tanks is proceeding and hoped to complete by the end of October. KBO are also in the process of building the marketing outlet and training area and they have already visited the 20 areas across North-West Cambodia to start organizing different farmers to come for training. indeed, one group has already booked!!!
